Porto Santo Walks is your gateway to exploring the stunning and very varied landscapes of Porto Santo. Our passion for nature and adventure drives us to offer unique guided walks, hikes and tours that help to reveal the island's hidden gems.
Porto Santo is an island apart from Madeira. Drier, older and situated 43 kilometers northeast of the main island of Madeira, Porto Santo is easily accessible via the Lobo Marinho Ferry operated by Porto Santo Lines or twice daily flights from Madeira operated by Binter Canarias. These connections can be affected by weather or maintenance of the ferry in January and early February. During the summer months the island gets busier, so we recommend you book your journey and any accommodation before booking any activities.
Whilst we have a very popular golden beach that extends for 9 kilometers, the island also has over 150 kilometers of trails and paths that alternate from mountains and woodland to coastal cliffs and deserted sand landscapes. Unlike Madeira, these tend to be quiet and uncrowded, easily accessible and great to hike all year round.
Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual walker or just want to sit back and take it all in on a driven tour, our carefully crafted routes cater to all levels of experience and are tailored to you. You dictate the pace. Time is never of the essence when discovering this magical island. We are also more than happy to provide guidance for any walks of your own preference in a solo or private group booking. Please note, we do not cater for the under 12s.
Our knowledgeable range of local and foreign guides are not only experts in the local terrain but also enthusiastic storytellers who will bring the island's history and culture to life. We are registered with the Portuguese tourist office under licence no 783/2025 and fully insured for you on our walks and in our vehicle.

Our footsteps
Porto Santo's year-round mild climate promotes an outdoor lifestyle that for us includes a lot of walking and exploring the more hidden parts of the island. In doing so and after talking to many of our visitors, it became very apparent that the full majesty of our little piece of paradise is not being showcased. We found out very early on that trails are not always clearly mapped or marked and a better local knowledge is required to fully enjoy them. With this in mind, we decided to share our walking experiences.
